Juliet Cedar Creek Marina Shooting and Police Standoff, TBI Identifies Victims and Suspect – The New Britain community mourns the profound loss of Alderman Jerrell “JReal” Hargraves, a devoted public servant whose life was defined by his unwavering commitment to the city and its people.

For over a decade, Jerrell served as an Alderman, bringing thoughtful, principled, and tireless advocacy to the City Council. His dedication extended further through more than 21 years as a dedicated City employee, most recently serving as the Human Rights & Opportunities Officer since 2018. In this role, his steadfast commitment to equity, dignity, and fairness shaped policies and touched countless lives.

His service reached far beyond City Hall. Jerrell generously gave his time and insight as a board member for the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain and the New Britain Public Library, tirelessly working to strengthen the foundational institutions that foster an inclusive and compassionate community.

Jerrell Hargraves’s profound love for New Britain and his deep belief in the power of public service have left an indelible mark. His legacy will be remembered for years to come.
