On the evening of February 2, at approximately 8:40 p.m., deputies with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded to a distressing call at the Winn-Dixie located at 1339 Blanding Boulevard. Reports indicated that an adult male was inside a vehicle suffering from apparent stab wounds and desperately seeking emergency assistance. According to preliminary findings, Billy had been involved in an altercation in the parking lot of the Cypress Pointe Apartment Complex at 25 Knight Boxx Road, directly across the street from the store. During that encounter, he was stabbed multiple times.
Despite his severe injuries, Billy managed to drive himself to the Winn-Dixie in an apparent attempt to find help. A passerby discovered him and called 911. Deputies and Clay County Fire Rescue arrived quickly and provided emergency medical treatment. Billy was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The individual who placed the 911 call is not believed to have been involved in the incident.
